PERCUSSION UPDATES 2009:
"Congratulations!" to MDB percussion section members Alex Hinson and
Scott Radock who are marching with The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps. And welcome to
Brian Radock will be a GTA with the percussion section teaching the front ensemble. Brian
was the DCI timpani individuals champion in 2006 and the 2009 winner of the PAS timpani
individuals competition.

- To audition for the percussion section and participate in the camp, you must:
*Have completd a pre-audition prior to May 15
*Have been admitted to the University of Alabama or a Shelton State student registered for MUA 153
through the University of Alabama.
*Completed and submitted an audition camp registration form
*Have brought with you to camp proof of medical/health insurance
- Your percussion audition camp registration form must be submitted on or before Monday, June 29.

Very important!!!: all students participating in the MDB percussion section may miss only one class
per week (as outlined in the Handbook). You may not miss parts of class on two different days either.
Our sectionals take place on Wednesdays, 6 - 9 pm. Please make sure you set up your schedule so it does
not conflict with sectionals or our weekly schedule.
Monday - Friday: 3:30 pm. (warm-up)
Monday - Friday: 4:00 - 5:30 pm. (band rehearsal)
Wednesdays: 6:00 - 9:00 pm (sectionals)

- Marching Band Scholarship battery auditions will consist of:

rudiments (at a moderate tempo/open-closed-open not required)
- Marching Band Scholarship front ensemble auditions will consist of:
a published, prepared piece (two or four mallets--student's choice)
sight reading
any of the 12 major scales, two octaves, with arpeggio
